Description

First off, our Split Antlers are NOT just half versions of the same size whole antler chew. They actually very close in weight/portion to the whole version!

Our Split antlers are probably not what you assume, we do not do it like everyone else! Please review the SPLIT ANTLERS-101 article - Blog

Our Medium Center-Cut Split elk antler Mountain Dog Chews are perfect for dogs between 15 to 95 pounds, depending on your dog's individual chewing temperament. These chews are considered our middle size; however, there is nothing middle-of-the-road about them! They are huge by others' standards! Your dog will love everything about this morsel of a chew and love you (even more!) for treating them to it!

We have found that our Center-Cut Split chews tend to be most favored by dogs – not surprising, as puppies, seniors and all dogs love ready access to the yummy, nutrient-rich marrow. As our antler chews are expertly hand-cut, OUR split chews are a safe and satisfying treat. Dogs literally go nuts over our Center-Cut Split chews!

Offered on a per-piece basis (that is, Qty 1 = 2 chews).

Average Dimensions: Hand selected for consistency, this Medium Center-Cut Split chew generally varies in length from 6 inches to 8 inches and, if not sliced into a single half, would vary in average diameter from 1.75 inches to 2+ inches wide.

NEW ANTLER FLAVOR OPTION! Original vs Hickory-Smoked - Mountain Dog Chews are now available in two varieties, ORIGINAL ANTLER (Our Straight-Up Fresh Antler) or our NEW HICKORY SMOKED (Lightly Smoked with real Hickory wood adding the distinct aroma, flavor and color of natural Hickory Smoke. Our Hickory-Smoked antlers are only made after you order, so please allow us an additional day of handling time to smoke the antlers before shipping your order.  Smoked antlers will cost an additional $7.50 per each antler chew. Unfortunately, we DO NOT offer returns on Hickory-Smoked Antlers.

Every antler chew is naturally unique and will vary, accordingly, in size and shape, weight/density and hue of color. However, all Mountain Dog Chews elk antler chews are sourced only from Grade A+ elk antler – the best one can purchase.

As with all consumable chew toys, please supervise diligently your pet when providing this antler chew. Once this chew has become worn down to a size that could pose a choking and/or swallowing hazard to your pet, please discard responsibly, and replace with a new Mountain Dog Chew!

    Where did it Go

Posted by Dennis on 25th Jan 2015

Have bought several of the Elk bones from this company and although I have never tried to eat one my dog has. He is a 13 month old English Springer Spaniel and a voracious chewer. These bone last longer then any of his other chew toys. However he is still able to go threw them pretty fast. He obviously loves them and they do keep him busy. He smells them in the mailing package and will not give up until I give it to him. We do have to ration it otherwise it would be gone in 2-3 days. I also love the Made in USA lable.

    Split elk chews

Posted by Andi on 24th Jan 2015

Last time I got full antler chews. This time I tried two split chews. One was chewed down to the point where I had to throw it away within two days. The other one is holding out a little longer but I think I will either go to a bigger split chew next time or back to the whole antlers. I still have some whole antlers from the first batch I ordered so they last a lot longer. I rated the split chews as average because they don't hold up with my std. dachshunds like the whole antlers do. My dogs are CHEWERS!

My picky French Bulldog loved it!

Posted by Unknown on 11th Dec 2014

I have a year old French Bulldog who loves cow tails and other chews that tend to get quite nasty after a bit of chewing. I therefore rely more on Nylabones and antlers for her, both of which she felt pretty "meh" about, UNTIL NOW! The medium chew was a bit bigger than I thought it would be, but still works for her, and she goes insane whenever she sees it. I've gotta take it away from her sometimes just so she doesn't pass out from all the excitement. This leads to her clawing at the door of the room I've hidden it in. This antler made my dog crazy, but it's a great product nonetheless!

My 14 month old a German Shepherd loves these. They don't fall apart and they are made in America !the cut antler makes it easier to work on the marrow.

    saving for later

I bought two sizes to accommodate my growing puppy. This is a little heavy, and he loves the smaller size. I'll just hang on to this for a couple of months.

I am so excited for my dog, Icelynn because she's excited about her split Elk bone. She simply loves her bones. My order arrived promptly and Icelynn always enjoys the Mountain Dog Chews. Thank you very much for delivering Icelynn's order so quickly so she and I can both enjoy the product.

    Medium Cut Antler The Best!

Posted by Larry J on 25th May 2014

My dog Casey is almost 1 yr old and is a 65 lb Goldendoodle. He loves both the uncut and the cut antlers. He spend hours during the day chewing at them and his teeth are gleaming white. The cut version he likes better because it is easier to eat away at the marrow but these won't last as long as the uncut. I would estimate that at the rate Casey eats the two cut medium I bought him, I will need to buy replacements in about 6 − 8 weeks. That's pretty good in my view and much better than rawhide which I always worry about. The uncut will last much longer. As for rawhide, I worry about a large piece being swallowed and where they come from. I love Mountaindogchews as they only ship the highest grade fresh brown antlers and they are always on the larger end of the size they advertise. My last online order was shipped the same day.

    Springer Spaniel Happiness

Posted by Unknown on 23rd May 2014

I have a 5 month old English Springer Spaniel who is a demon chewer. I have tried pressed rawhide bones and they do not last. I reviewed antler bones and settled on trying a medium split elk bone. The dog loves it and keeps going back to it every day. The purchase was worth the expense.
