My Labs LOVE the Split Antler Chews

Posted by Annie on 18th Sep 2020

I use these split chews as a reward for my Labs and they absolutely love them. They get the whole antlers on the daily but the splits as a reward because the split Chews only last 2-3 days!

    His trophy!

My shepherd lab mix carries this around begging you to take it..... not easily done! He loves it and chews and chews. Beats the sticks that he would chew otherwise.

    Great antler

Posted by Cathy on 4th May 2020

My dog likes all the antlers and really enjoys the moose ones. They are a little softer but still last a long time. He is a pit bull/mastiff mix and will chew an hour or so a day while outside on the patio. (too much slobber for indoors!) If he really gets going on a chew session he could gnaw down the split moose but it will still last a couple weeks at least. I buy him the split and whole elk and moose antlers.

These are a little harder than what I normally get from Mountain Dog but my little hooligans still love them and it keeps them busy for hours!

Perfect chew for both our dogs

Posted by Betsy on 20th Sep 2019

Our dogs, two medium sized (30-40) lb retriever and spaniel/ poodle mixes LOVE their antlers! Their favorite are the split antlers and they like the moose and elk the best as they love to chew, but the moose and elk are a bit softer than the deer or the burrs. These are our first dogs and though we’ve done a lot of research and asked many experts, we were just so overwhelmed on what would be an appropriate natural chew. For some reason, neither of our dogs like the synthetic chews. Maybe it’s the texture?- as they both have “soft mouths.” Their chews need to be hard and have a natural texture (not rubbery) but we also didn’t want them to hurt their teeth on something like a bone. I’ve been bombarded with so contradictory information about rawhide, so we skipped that. Bully sticks could be an option, I guess- but they are messy and the dogs sometimes fight over them. As long as each dog has an antler, they are fine and there is never any mess or smell. I researched what would be the safest chew for my dogs- as they need something they’d rather chew than my furniture, and elk and moose antlers (split moose is the softest) kept coming up as a good option. Some sites say antlers are not safe for dogs and may hurt their teeth, but not all antlers are the same. The quality, species, cut, and specific part of the antler makes a big difference. Please reach out to the company and check with your vet when making the decision what is best for your pet. What I love about Mountain Dog Chews is that their product is of the highest quality. High quality antlers should *never* splinter and every antler I’ve ever received from this company has not splintered, unlike a few I have gotten from local and chain pet stores. Also, buying antlers from Mountain Dog Chews has been the most economical way I have found to buy antlers. They are 1/2 the cost, if not less, than buying them in the store. Any way you put it, from any company, antlers are not inexpensive chews - so I’m very happy to get a consistently high quality product. Also, unlike some other companies where you can buy “bulk chews” and end up with a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and antler species, and parts- with Mountain Valley Chews you get what they advertise. I buy the large chews (even though I have medium sized dogs) because they can handle the size and they like to hold onto them with their paws. I’ve even made a clamp to hold them as they get smaller, but once they are small enough to be swallowed, we replace them (and our dogs think it’s Christmas!). Depending on the product we purchase, each lasts a few weeks to months of daily chomping. I’m not being compensated by the company for this review and my dogs’ health and happiness is very important to me as I have chose to bring them into my family. We live on a budget so we only buy high quality products that last, our dogs love, and are sold at a fair price. (Their shipping is super fast too, as well as having excellent customer service.) - and I’m just thrilled to find a company and product that makes my life easier and my dogs very happy- as chewing releases tons of endorphins for dogs! After trying many different sources we will be sticking with Mountain Dog Chews and love gifting antlers to our friends with pets. As all dogs are different, your dog may need a different type of antler, so I encourage you to talk to your vet and reach out to the company to find out what product is the best for your pup.

    Huge!

Posted by Sarrah Jones on 25th Jul 2019

So our girl is still working on another antler, so not sure about how hard they are compared to the paddles. However, the quality is the same as all of Mountain Dog Chews other products! These things are huge but just the right length for our Doberman to hold while chewing her brains out! Definately going to give one to her once she is done consuming her mammoth spilt moose! Will update as soon as she tries it.
